PPARs in liver physiology

چکیده

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are nuclear and transcriptional modulators with crucial functions in hepatic whole-body energy homeostasis. Besides their well-documented roles lipid glucose metabolism, emerging evidence also implicate PPARs the control of other processes such as inflammatory responses. Recent technological advances, single-cell RNA sequencing, have allowed to unravel an unexpected complexity regulation PPAR expression, activity downstream signaling. Here we provide overview latest advances study liver physiology, a specific focus on formerly neglected aspects regulation, tissular zonation, cellular heterogeneity, circadian rhythms, sexual dimorphism species-specific features. • isotype expression is for distinct cell types. The spatially zonated across lobule. Hepatic PPARα PPARβ/δ display rhythmicity. presents dimorphism. PPAR-mediated gene some instances species-dependent.

Hepatic PPARs: their role in liver physiology, fibrosis and treatment.

Complex molecular and cellular mechanisms are involved in the pathway of liver fibrosis. Activation and transformation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are considered the two main reasons for the cause and development of liver fibrosis. The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) belonging to the family of ligand-activated transcription factors play a key role in liver homeostasis, ...

PPARs/RXRs in Cardiovascular Physiology and Disease

The PPAR family of nuclear receptor transcription factors are important regulators of cardiovascular function and metabolism. Because of this, PPARs are potentially interesting pharmacologic targets for treating cardiometabolic disease. The reviews in this series discuss the regulatory functions of PPARs in maintaining metabolic and physiologic homeostasis in a variety of cells and tissues. Add...

PPARs in Liver Diseases and Cancer: Epigenetic Regulation by MicroRNAs

Peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are ligand-activated nuclear receptors that exert in the liver a transcriptional activity regulating a whole spectrum of physiological functions, including cholesterol and bile acid homeostasis, lipid/glucose metabolism, inflammatory responses, regenerative mechanisms, and cell differentiation/proliferation. Dysregulations of the expression, o...
